Manager Animal Husbandry & Operations
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Husbandry and Operations, this role is responsible for the daily operations of the animal facility, internal systems, policies & procedures and the facility staff. This role provides leadership, oversight and assists with long range planning to ensure that all areas are operating at the highest standards possible. This role provides support to the ADH&O for implementing new internal processes and projects, monitoring progress of established procedures, and providing redundancy at the Supervisory level, where needed. This position will serve as a departmental liaison for research faculty and vendor relationships in the current expanding research program.

Animal Research Support Supervisor
This role has oversight of the quality of veterinary nursing care and schedules the activities of the animal research support specialists assigned to the DVR. The role is responsible for all day to day matters impacting the DVR animal research support specialists including performance management, hiring and training. Additionally, s/he provides health care to laboratory animals maintained at CHOP, consistent with departmental, institutional, local, state, and federal regulations and AAALAC accreditation standards. Provides technical assistance to investigators. Coordinates the scheduling and general operation of the DVR surgical facilities; induces and monitors general anesthesia in laboratory animals; provides technical assistance and nursing support to post-operative animals; assist investigative staff with experimental procedures, anesthesia, pre-, intra-, and post-operative care and monitoring.

Senior Research Veterinarian
The Department of Veterinary Resources (DVR) team at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute supports and consults on all scientific, medical, and compliance issues related to animal-based research. The team’s responsibilities include clinical veterinary services, animal husbandry, animal procurement, animal enrichment, investigator support, training, and compliance oversight. The DVR senior director and attending veterinarian implements the program of veterinary care and provides supervision of the DVR staff to identify, treat, and prevent disease introduction and/or transmission in colony research animals. The DVR veterinary team is available for consultation on animal-based research protocols, laboratory animal management, and development of grant applications for research involving animal models. Researchers should contact the DVR regarding all animal-related issues.

Veterinary Technician Specialist
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Performs a broad range of duties typical of both veterinary clinical care and research setting.
- Performs treatment, diagnostic laboratory procedures, and necropsy; keeps records and manages rodent breeding and colonies.

- May train, observe and monitor research personnel.
