Programs

In 2018, NJABR events brought together hundreds of biomedical research stakeholders to explore important aspects of laboratory animal research and to improve animal welfare. As always, our programming was well-received and offered insightful commentary from regulatory agency representatives and experts in the field.

  • NJABR offered 23 AAVSB RACE-approved continuing education hours for veterinarians and veterinary technicians through our professional development programming;
  • We enhanced our internationally-recognized 3Rs Webinar Series for the 2018-2019 program year by partnering with the International Consortium for Innovation & Quality in Pharmaceutical Development (“IQ Consortium”) and the North American 3Rs Collaborative (“NA3RsC”). Through this collaboration, we are able to offer additional webinars, new interactive collaborative discussions, and explore issues related to the improvement of animal welfare, reproducibility, and other topics to improve research outcomes – all with continuing education credits. Together with the IQ Consortium and NA3RsC, we are increasing the effectiveness and reach of 3Rs initiatives;
  • In November, we hosted IACUC 25 at the Palace at Somerset Park. The research community heard from leading experts and regulatory officials about new requirements, learned techniques to enhance animal welfare and optimize research operations, as well as how to promote increased transparency and the public’s understanding about the important role of animals in biomedical innovation. Nine continuing education credits were available for each attendee at IACUC 25 alone.
